On youtube I recently discovered some incredible music with Scaggs and Duane Allman. If you’ve never heard it look it up.
Then I discovered Duane and Clapton. Wow.
Tell me about it. It's only been a couple of years that I've gotten into Clapton. Up until Clapton's Crossroads Guitar Festival in Dallas last September, my music library was about 40 years old, though it was varied.
During my tour in Germany (77-81), I bought on average ten albums a month, and mixed my own cassettes. Most afternoons at work, I'd listen to Radio Luxembourg as well. But Clapton was never a big part of that, I was more into Dire Straits, a band my girlfriend loved.
That concert really opened my eyes, best I ever attended. It lasted over 8 hours, simply awesome.
The Tedeschi Trucks Band wowed me with "Keep on Growing", I'm embarrassed to say I'd never heard the song before, which was on the Derek and the Dominos album. Clapton and Bobby Whitlock wrote the song.
Eric and Duane had something special going, Duane's death was devastating to Eric.
