I’ve heard liberals compare this to Puritan times. However, Puritan shaming was BETTER. It was limited to the local community, not literally thousands of strangers abusing you. They had to live with you afterward, so there were limits to what they could do. They didn’t want to support you, so they weren’t allowed to cost you your ability to feed your family.
