What was the joke?

Stevenson recounted an “inside joke” with board artist Sam Szymanski about main character Bow, a skilled archer, having multiple siblings whose names all rhyme, in addition to reflecting their main pursuits. One of those characters was named Sow, who tilled the fields, but fans were quick to point out the racist implications of a Black character named Sow being relegated to slave-like work.

They retconned She-Ra’s love interest in the original series to a black guy. The characters name was Bow and has brothers whose names rhyme with his.

On the livestream she told the story about how the writing staff made up fake brothers... like Sow who was a farmer and showed a black guy farmer with a straw hat and jean overalls.

Yeah... that’s what made her a RACISS

“What was the joke?”

Noell Stevenson, by all appearances. The very first “sowers” at the dawn of agriculture were almost assuredly “black” women (unless Asian women beat them to it). How dare Noell imply that black women do productive work.
Ignorance, hysteria, and cowardice are an ugly combination.
