Dad just had a general practice. He was attorney for welfare department for 32 years. The most he made there was $17,000. The year after he retired they hired three people to do the job paying each $75.00.
Occasionally he was called in as special judge. Never prosecutor. Clerked first the federal court system after he graduated top of his class. It was then that he took on the head of KKK. They blackballed him and all the offers in prestigious firms dried up.
We had had a cross burned on family land because a cousin had married an “Indian Princess”. You may have heard of his son, Woodrow Wilson (Woody) Crumbo. He’s quite famous as a Native American artist.
Dad was lucky that an older attorney whose son was also just starting out took an interest in him. They all became lifelong friends.
Many times I’d travel with dad to the homes of the few AA who lived in our town. They were afraid to be seen going to a lawyers office in town.

I’ve had a blessed life. Today I went to pay electric bill and was informed that the powers that be had credited to my account the $500 deposit for WiFi. I just broke down in tears (still haven’t cried over the loss of THINGS from the barn burning. But cry when it’s obvious I am surrounded by the Body of Christ who love and care for me.
We replaced the chainsaw today. The hardware threw in two of the most beautiful mums. Again I was in tears. BTW. There is NO social distancing around me. Too many hugs given and received! God IS good!

You should write your stories. A lot of us should write our stories. Children aren’t being taught history, and when it’s personal it has more meaning.
