I woulda thought it should say broken leg, but that’s not how death certificate ended up reading in the case I was talking of.
just stikes me as odd how some deaths are recorded one way and some leaned to support another reason.
I had an older relative, went in for knee replacement, surgery was success, but she had trouble coming out of recovery at hospital died 4 days later. doubt they called her death due to recovery from knee surgery.
I wonder if some of that is to reduce/ignore any possibility of a lawsuit against the doctor or hospital?? Of course most of us know that there is that risk - and I suppose there is some sort of waiver that one signs prior to any major surgery?
I know just being put under with anesthesia there is a risk of damage or death. “Yeah - I don't care about the small print - just take care of these terrible sinus headaches!!”
