In Texas you are allowed to use Deadly Force to stop or prevent a felony, among other things.

I live in the country. When I see a vehicle or people I don't know on any of my neighbor's properties I hop in my truck and investigate with my 44 on my hip and Mr Mossberg in hand.

I ask two questions: Who are you and Who's property are you on? Wrong answers get a call to the owner and a couple of times to the Sheriff.

All of my neighbors appreciate it and many call me to let me know when someone is coming out to their property.

Fyi, what you described is how things work in my home county in rural northeast Texas AND also at our family’s “Mountain Lair” in the eastern WV mountains.

Not long ago our NETX neighbor, Pastor Johnny Mac B__________, captured a pair of “night prowling thieves” on our family farm about 0100 hours on a Tuesday morning & held them at shotgun point until the Constables arrived.
(One of the Constables told the thieves that they were LUCKY to not have been shot by the pastor.)

YES, between dusk & dawn we Texans CAN lawfully shoot prowlers on private property (BOTH LEOs & civilians may do so.) AND “use any necessary force up to & including deadly force” against FELONS, if the felony is committed in the defender’s presence at ANY time, day or night.

Yours, TMN78247
