These things always seem jarring when they happen. I graduated from the University of Texas at Arlington:

After founding the Southland Conference as a charter member for the 1964 season, by 1966, the school officially became the University of Texas at Arlington.[2] UTA won conference championships in 1966, 1967 and 1981 seasons in addition to winning their lone bowl game, the 1967 Pecan Bowl.[2] The program would be officially disbanded after an announcement by then university president Wendell Nedderman on November 25, 1985, citing financial loss and low attendance as the primary impetus for its abandonment.

Within a year no one thought about again. School has done fine.

Here’s the kicker: The school mascot used to be the Rebels. They flew the Confederate flag on their uniforms and the band played Dixie and formed a Confederate flag on the field at halftime using umbrellas for the stars. The name was changed to the Mavericks in the 70’s due to protests. The program quickly went downhill after the change as alumni donations tanks. 10 years the program was gone.

Yes and the Pac-10 demands were even more demanding. They really did bring this down on themselves.

It will be interesting to see if this happens more and more (PAC 12/ Big 10 players transferring immediately)

No, a single test result would not. The University of Oklahoma reports 17 active cases on the team and 17 who have recovered.

Michigan, Ohio State, Penn State and Wisconsin should just join Another conference. The rest of the Big ten should either quit football or join some division 2 conference.

While I know some attention has been paid to college football and the decision by the Pac-12 and Big Ten not to play this fall, conservatives haven't put nearly as much pressure on Big Ten governors and university presidents.

I don't WANT conservatives to put pressure on the Big Ten governors and university presidents. I want conservatives to say, "See what liberals do to every American tradition? In the conservative South, football and normal life reflect Republican values."

Honestly, I do feel for the PAC-12 and Big10 fans. But when the enemy (liberals) are digging a hole, don't stop them.

I think when SEC and ACC football start just over a month before the election, the contrast between liberal over-hype and conservative embracing of Americana is going to create a political fury in PAC-12 and Big10 states like we've never seen. There won't be one fan in the western US that isn't furious and blaming liberals for the shutdown. Each Saturday, and every Sunday when rankings come out, they will spit with fury that their team is sidelined.

This pain to you is going to pay off biggly politically.

I do believe eventually the big programs will break away from the Conferences and start their own League, negotiating their own TV contracts.

That is basically how The Premier League started in English soccer, the big teams broke away from the FA and negotiated their own deals.

The Dem Guvs and University Presidents get their orders from on high. The idea is to break every plate in the China shop and blame it on the bully bull, Trump.

They sacrifice babies, so it’s easy to sacrifice jobs, economies, freedom and football. Not much of a stretch if one is already of totalitarian fascist mindset.

Ein volk, ein misery, ein reich. Hail Hydra. Hail Obama.

Kevin Warren is a far left lunatic who was a big Hillary supporter. The Big 10 was ready to play until President Trump said he was in favor of College Football playing a regular schedule.

Once Warren heard that the President was for it - he was against it. Governor Witless seized on the opportunity to back another Anti-Trump campaign.

I’m sorry, but with all else that is going on across the country, football isn’t even on the list of things of actual importance IMO.

It sounds like this was a political decision, designed to harm the president in the Midwest.

What can we do? Call the Big Ten? Call the athletic directors? What do we do from here?

We can also look forward to CNN\PMSNBC\NBC\ABC\CBS\PBS\NPR\WP\NYT\et al\et al all pushing their biggest lies ever (quite a challenge to be sure). Citing death totals of players and fans in the thousands, or some such faked up terror. Look for an updating death count clock on CNN and PMSNBC.

Forget about the phrase “confirmed deaths”, truth will have absolutely nothing to do with it. After 4 years of testing public lack of skepticism as to how easily totally made up sh** will be believed, the MSM is now convinced they can say any whopper they want to and remain untouched.

They also have proved to themselves that their voters (Dims of course) have zero curiosity to attempt to learn the truth other than check Democrat run snopes.com for the “truth” (lollollollollol).

“Truth” now rests in the heads of the brain dead TV watcher.

The players were attempting to form a union.

And that may be the reason that there will be no football this year. I have no illusion that the “spring ball” season will happen.

Right. And there is zero chance colleges are going to keep athletics if they have ti deal with unionized students.

Correct.

Make them farm teams of the pro sports, owned by the schools, and stop pretending they are anything but that.

Great post.

I am still trying to put my head around the concept of no Husker football this fall. College football is a huge part of our culture here in Nebraska. The fact that this SJW dipshit cancelled the season for what appears to be his own racial agenda is almost inconceivable. And the idea of playing college football in the spring is an unworkable joke.

Any of you Sooner fans out there, please know that my large group of friends here in the Lincoln/Omaha area that normally get together and watch the Huskers every weekend have adopted Oklahoma as our team this year. We will be cheering for our favorite old rival this year to win it all. Boomer Sooner!!!
