In earlier life I was a bio/chem major & narrator on ships doing whale watches and harbor cruises after college - I used to joke to visitors / passengers that the nickname for San Diego is “America’s Finest City”, it’s kinda obnoxious & self-serving, but it’s true lol. I’ve always considered a blessing to live here :)

We did the whale watcher cruise when there, Hornblower cruise line I think.

Did not see any whales so they gave us free tickets for a future cruise, used those to do a harbor cruise of navy ships.

I like you a lot, Steven, but on this one you're way off base. You of all people, having been a whale narrator, should know better.

Here's what San Diego means.

Discovered by the Germans in 1904, they named it San Diego, which of course in German means 'a whale's vagina'.
