Of greater concern is the video, down the page, of Jalisco New Generation Cartel show of strength and challenge to rival Mencho. Amazing what money can buy on the world's weapons blackmarket. That's a sizeable group of 'soldiers', vehicles....many armored, and weapons LMGs etc. If some day they decide to break through the border, Panch Villa's raid will look like a revival meeting.
Should they invade they will not get far - Mr Brrrrritttt and Mr AC130jr will hold then until the armor arrives ...
IMO the cartels have infiltrated many of our defensive agencies.
By intimidation, outright purchasing, and the ever-popular use of political organizations.
A couple of years ago, I read that one reason that things are even more violent is ironically the success of breaking up the large cartels. As the large operations were broken up and their leaders arrested, they were replaced by younger and much smaller and much more violent groups.
The older cartels had certain rules they played by. For instance, because they had control of resort areas, they made sure that violence stayed well clear of resort/tourist areas. The newer groups had and have no such “rules”.
My late mom loved Mexico and the Mexican people. A real treat for her was to go to the lobster village (Puerto Nuevo) south of Tijuana. As you say, the common Mexican people are so screwed.
