Do the ChiCom's have Airborne troops? Dropping regular troops in those
numbers against US ground to air systems would be a disaster. The PLA is
largely a conscript army that is most likely poorly trained...I think Taiwan
could hold off the initial attack and we are bound to help them by treaty
though a Biden presidency would try to worm out of it.

Would the treaty mean anything, if the Chinese got a secure hold of the island and threatened nuclear devastation in America if we try to dislodge them?

we are bound to help them by treatyThere is ZERO chance that the US would go to war over Taiwan.
And there is no treaty which obligates us to defend Taiwan, at least not a treaty that was ever ratified by the Senate.
In fact, current US legislation FORBIDS the President to engage in hostilities over Taiwan unless directed to do so by Congress, which of course Congress would never do.
