What happened to California was that “live and let live” attitude. I grew up in California. It was a great state. But everybody tolerated everything, because you were in California and that is what Californians did.

Gays were tolerated, but no one imagined they’d shove perversion down our throats...the poor were given what they needed, but no one imagined it would never be used to better themselves...

My roots are in Texas and I returned in 1983. Since then, California has become a foreign country. I visited a friend not long ago (before Covid) and at the airport I asked her “were there always this many weirdos or have I just been away too long?” .
