I’ve seen it reported that if a civil war was to break out
today that the casualties as a percentage of the population
compared to CW1 would be in the millions.

It would not be a war of secession but of revolution,
a much different animal.

Agree, and to make matters worse, we have a world of enemies with weapons capable of great destruction waiting for an opening. Thank the Jewish Admiral Rickover for giving America its underwater fleet of nuclear boomers who keep us safe. If our enemies ever figure how to take this capability offline, we’re screwed (Rev. 18:17 “For in a single hour such fabulous wealth has been destroyed!”).

I can see many scenarios where several states secede to get out of this mess. I can also see at the same time places devolving into guerrilla warfare and militias being formed.
