NBA ratings continue to be inexplicably low this month, with all of the Twitter chatter surrounding the leagues return not translating into an actual increase in viewers.
When the NBA resumed its season at the end of July, many observers assumed it would be a ratings boon for all involved. Networks were starved for sports programming as a result of COVID-19, and basketballs glut of big name stars should have converted into a ton of viewership.
Only it didnt.
In the first week of action, the NBAs ratings immediately sputtered. Rather than spiking due to an increase in hype and intrigue around the return of basketball, the numbers dipped to 14 percent below pre-COVID averages.
Last week, the games that took place from Thursday to Sunday drew smaller ratings than the same period the prior week.

It just baffles me what people see in basketball. On the other hand, I love baseball, I love all the strategy that is constantly going on, you also have to be smart to be a good baseball player because you are often making split-second decisions about what to do, especially once the ball is hit. And yet people say baseball is boring. . . .
This Monday the WWE on USA, with no fans and a studio show, drew 500,000 more fans than the NBA game on against it.
Not really a fan. My wife has been watching. But part of the issue is that the games are starting a noon on a weekday.
No one except die hard fans and gamblers are going to watch that.
Bill Bradley, Tom McMillen, Jay Bilas - hardly low IQ guys.
Maybe the game is beyond you.
Inexplicably?
Get woke, go broke!
Idiots will never learn. Seriously.
Stomp on the flag, insist the black lives matter (more than any other lives), and get on your knees to fellate the Chinese - that adds up to low ratings.
Solly Charee. No tickie, nobody gives a damn.
I am offended by the players’ bad attitude
“Inexplicably”
You keep using that word. I do not think it means what you think it means....
:-)
Love,
O2
I wonder why that might be?
English Premiership Rugby returns on NBC Sports on Sunday. They haven’t kneeled in the past, but who knows?
Trust me: they are worried about their jobs. If the couch potatoes don’t come back, they are all on the street.
[Why is it down only 14%? That should be the question.]
THAT is indeed the question.
It should be more like 84%.
(though 100% would be fine, too)
[Is this article for real? Are they really confused?]
Yeah. To be fair, Democrat Radicals don’t understand why everybody doesn’t love them all the time and all of their destructive political agendas.
Seriously. They really don’t.
It’s inexplicable !!!! / sarcasm
And their non-core audience are Americans and will no longer watch these millionaire gangsters...
no....they are splicably low.
[It just baffles me what people see in basketball.]
Joey: My dad says you don’t work hard enough on defense. And that you don’t really try. Except during the playoffs.
Roger: Time to go back to your seat, Joey!
Captain Over: What? He’s not bothering anyone!
Should be much lower but their a way too many sports addicts in this country.
They care about their fix more than their country.
Damaging to the leftist narrative if explained.
Inexplicabe???? to quote Slow Joe Biden...”C’mon, man!”
