I forgot about how they were chosen.
They are supposed to be chosen at random (with exceptions) from your county of residence. The exception where I live is, if you’ve served on a jury in the last 6 months, you are excused until a later date.
Random lottery. But in the case presented, the selection isn’t random. Using social media and other records, people are selected who are likely to have a certain prejudice for or against the crime being tried.
Example for example’s sake: The bad people want a speeder to get off. They pick people for the pool have have griped about tickets and/or cops in general on social media and have problems with driving offenses themselves. They could be more likely to be sympathetic to the defendant. Those people are the ones that get jury notices, and it isn’t random. Will they win them all? No, but it could certainly tilt the scales of justice.
Hope I’m making sense.
That aspect is mentioned in the "What They Don't Want You to See" video, in relation to Stone's case. A jury seemingly selected with certain characteristics - no Republicans, etc. It was reasoned that the data collected on individuals would maybe be used by someone (the deep state) to select people that they wanted for specific purposes.
I have NEVER been asked to be a juror. Never! And I have no idea why. Coincidence?
Makes senses, except how do the bad people get in charge of making sure their picks get jury duty notices?
