What the heck does that even mean in this context. Oh wait, I think I know what it means. It means “I was completely exposed and discredited and I’m too humiliated to admit it”.
He presented it as a reaction to the Clinesmith thing. I interpreted it to mean he was going to wait and see how that unfolded, and if he didn't like the outcome, his new deadline is Tuesday.
Which is, of course, just as insane as doing it today.
