Donald Trump reportedly has a secret weapon as he prepares to debate Joe Biden — it's Chris Christie

According to a new report by Axios, U.S. President Donald Trump will have a secret weapon as he prepares to debate against Joe Biden in the upcoming election — Chris Christie. Trump, the outlet reports, is readying to face into three September debates with Biden, the Democratic nominee, with the help of the former New Jersey governor.

Trump has previously said that Christie was “harder to debate” than Hillary Clinton, when Christie previously helped him to practice for debates in the 2016 presidential race, the New York Post reports.

At secret meetings at Trump’s golf club in Bedminster, Christie is said to have been one of a small crack team assembled, with a view to figuring out how Trump can best Biden at the podium. The others included Jared Kushner (Trump’s son-in-law and adviser), his campaign manager Bill Stepien, and Jason Miller, another adviser.

The debates are said to be seen by Trump’s top aides of being of huge importance, the potential key to helping him close the polling gap between him and Biden. The team fears Biden may not hold many high-profile media interviews ahead of the vote, leaving the debates as the best chance Trump will have of making headway.

“I don’t think he (Trump) sees the debates as the last inflection points, but potentially the most important,” one source familiar with the Trump strategy meetings told Axios “I think he always thinks he can create an inflection point. But he has verbalized how important these are going to be. He’s said, ‘We gotta win. The press will never give me the credit for it, but the people will.'”

Will they be able to pry him away from his closed beach long enough to get him to help Trump?

“At any rate, Christie has been his debate sparring partner, assuming the role of Hillary in 2016.”

He also wore a pants suit and a mumu dress to make it more authentic

Glad to see this. Don’t want to assume easy debates with Biden. And make sure no rehearsed speeches (Christie/Rubio).

Does DJT really need a secret weapon in order to debate Sleepy Joe?

I really think the point of this article is to lay down a marker that Trump intends to debate and that the media talk about there not being a need for debates is hogwash. Trump is going to debate Biden. Biden will not be allowed to weasel out of the debates, regardless of the harping Biden supporters in the corrupt MSM.

I would have hired Greg Gutfeld to debate with. More like Joe, but of course quicker and smarter.

I still think there is a 995 chance of no debates.

As far as primary debates go, 2019 Tulsi Gabbard is to Kamala Harris as 2016 Chris Christie was to Marco Rubio.

I truly believe that Trump won the 2016 election when he retorted with "Only Rosie O'Donnell" in that first debate in Cleveland. It was a ballsy move that showed America that Trump was going to be a fighter and not just another cardboard cutout politician.

Any other politician in that situation would have muttered an apology and corkscrewed himself right through the floor of the podium in embarrassment.

Megyn Kelly truly thought that night that she was going to drive Trump from the race with that line of attack. She even predicted before the debate that "after tonight, one of the candidates will not be standing".

Look at her below backstage just before the debate. She looks like the cat that ate the canary and her flunkies were beaming in excitement over what was to come. She was going to TAKE OUT TRUMP and be the most famous news babe ever.

Instead, this moment proved to be the high water mark of Megyn's career. In just minutes, Trump would eviscerate her on national TV and it was all downhill for her after that. Didn't she wind up on some daytime housewife show that failed badly? Now I have no idea what she is even doing today.
