In late July, 1966, we were driving through Naples when the flatbed truck carrying a load of tomatoes that was in front of us had to stop at a red light. On the radio, Sognando la California (California dreaming) by the Dik Diks was playing. All of a sudden a group of young boys darted out right in front of us and stole a crate of tomatoes from the truck. We had just seen the scugnizzi, the infamous young criminals of Naples, in action.

We don’t see the bad element. My wife loves looking at the shops as the camera pans by. She loves the clothes. Oh and the fish markets.
