Austin, TX An Austin bike shop owned in part by Lance Armstrong has announced it will no longer fulfil its lucrative contract keeping the Austin Police Departments bicycle patrol on two wheels after after three employees complained that officers used their bikes to control violent protesters.
Mellow Johnnys Bike Shop, located in downtown Austin, is the brainchild of racing legend Armstrong, according to the shops website.
KXAN reported that the bike shop, which took a Paycheck Protection Program loan of between $150,000 and $350,000 in April, is walking away from a $314,000 contract with the city.
The most recent contract to supply the Austin police was a three-year agreement with two renewal options.
The bike shop, in business since 2008, has held the contract to provide all the Trek mountain bikes and accessories to the Austin bike cops for eight years, according to a column in the Austin American-Statesman.
On Tuesday, the manager called the Austin police and told them they had been cut off.

What would happen if a Trans officer brings his bike in. Can they refuse to service it?
Not sure what the services these places offer but bicycle shops in Texas.
11 others in Austin.
16 each in San Antonio and Houston.
21 in Dallas - Fort Worth.
Granted those shops in other cities would be more of a hassle but they are available in case the left shuts them out of Austin.
So a few whiny bi!<%es complain, and the company cancels their contract? These People are beyond pathetic.
that $314,000 will leave a big hole in their wallet
I put a 50-year-old "free bike", with one bad brake, on the front lawn last Saturday. Gone in less than 5 minutes.
It is kind of like the Berkeley or Ithaca of Texas. I have avoided it for decades and none of my kids were allowed to go to skrool there.
F-austin let them all fizzle into nothing...
No make that NUKE EM !!!
That place died in the 80s-90s.
Be a darn shame if something happened to their little bike shop that police need to respond to. “911.....yeah they were on their way, but their bikes got flat tires so it’s going to be a while.....they are biking in from San Antonio now.....”
Right now my local Walmart is having trouble getting decent cash to load into their (self checkout) machines. Reportedly, they’re getting crummy used bills that don’t work well. Hence, they are not filling the machines with cash and the machines are operating in mandatory credit card / debit card mode. There are two Walmart’s in town. I haven’t been to the other one to see if they have the same problem. It’s happening at the one closest to me.
Whats interesting is how the church in America has recently become obsessed with signs and wonders, and other weird manifestations.
Considering what prosperity gospel adherents are willing to believe is from God, I can easily see how they will be deceived.
The first person who comes along, doing some signs, claiming they are through the power of God is going to have a massive following.
The Woke Star State.
>> and so that all will be condemned who have not believed the truth but have delighted in wickedness
And they delight in the comfort of their telecom providers.
Believe the truth:
CNN is ATT
MSNBC is Comcast
Those that deny the Antichrist is coming will more than likely believe he is the messiah.
At the church organization I worked at, several of them were enamored with Barack Obama.
Many of them (including my boss) were SJW’s.

Maybe, maybe not. Austin is a Blue enclave in Red Texas. And, theres lots of affluent professionals there. So, cant say what the financial impact will be on the shop. Might be a net win. Btw, where do you live?
The verses you posted in #50 speak more true to our present age with every passing hour.
If they can afford to throw away a $314,000 contract, then they clearly don’t need the Payroll Protection Fund money and need to return it.
Not only are they endangering the populace due to not providing essential equipment to the police, but they’re also ripping them off.
All because three employees whined that the police were mean to a marauding mob. Amazing. And chilling.
