My mom is 96 and at her assisted living facility they’ve only had to be quarantined in their apartments a few times for short periods after a staff member developed flu-like symptoms and was detected at the start of shift temp scan. They were kept in their rooms only until test results came back and each time it was negative for covid-19. While they’ve not been able to have outside visitors since March, the staff does a good job of keeping them as active as possible and between phone and internet video calls they’re able to stay in touch with family, who can also do contactless delivery of items. For most of the, being able to move around the hallways and in the garden is all they can handle in any case.
I realize it’s anecdotal but the dim scenario you described is just not the case for everyone. In my mom’s case, her overall health has actually been better and she likes having to eat at tables 6 ft apart because “less complaining about the food!”
I’m glad for the precautions that are taken as these are the “most vulnerable”. Leave the rest of us healthy younger people to make our own choices.

We had a pharmacy student from Beirut that came to the US for an internship and worked out at our studio for a while. Absolutely beautiful girl, very very sweet, made friends with everybody, we hated to see her have to go back. She did have a habit of looking at herself in the mirror during exercises, but that’s a peccadillo. :-) It’s a lovely country but you worry about all the good folks that live there.
Someone should do the math on this: of those states that have or will go mail-in would Trump have a chance of winning anyhow?

it was an application to receive a mail-in ballot.
We never asked for an “absentee ballot” and it pretty much said on the application that is was for receiving a mail-in voting ballot, with hard end dates.
