An excerpt from Finding Freedom, a forthcoming book about the Sussexes from royal reporters Omid Scobie and Carolyn Durand, goes into detail about Harry and Meghan's choice to step back, laying out a play-by-play of how it all went down. And after the agreement for the couple's new lives had been all hashed out, Queen Elizabeth invited Harry to lunch at Windsor Castle, during which, according to Scobie and Durand's reporting, she assured him that she supported him and Meghan regardless, and that they could return to the fold whenever they wanted.
"As they tucked into a roast lunch, the Queen made it clear to Harry that she would always support him in whatever he decided to do," the excerpt in the Times reads. "Though a 12-month trial period had already been promised to Harry earlier in the year, their conversation was also a reminder that should he and Meghan ever want to return to their roles, they were always welcome."
This meeting—which was widely publicized at the time, though not with as much detail—took place on March 1. In the meantime, Harry and Meghan have made meaningful steps toward forging a new and different life in Los Angeles with baby Archie.

How long does this family last anyway? About the only thing I see saving them is if they all convert to Islam.
The Queen is wise, except some decisions regarding family. At times too indulgent. Harry and Meghan are an embarrassment.
That’s what the Queen said months ago, before this book came out. Her opinion may be changed now.
From what I can surmise, just reading comments, about half the Brits would be willing to have Harry back in Britain, but not as an active royal. The other half want nothing to do with him because of his disrespect to the Queen and all her people.
The vast majority of commenters do not expect or desire for Meghan to return in any way at all. She’s already described how much she hates it there. Some remarks you can never take back.
I guess even the queen is just play acting not just her ungrateful grandson and the leech attached to him. only one i feel sorry for is the kid. what a mess of parents and relatives all enablers, and some so rich they just don’t care how they waste it or how foolish they look doing it. Meanwhile millions upon multi-millions of decent people in the world going through real hardship, real poverty and needs of help.
Sounds like she’s offering them a room in the basement. Probably has to since neither one has any employable skills.

What a relief! I was lacking on things to be concerned with...
Harry and Meghan seem to be finding the new life harder than they expected and could well return to Britain. Some choice scripted remarks by them, public appearances with their kid, and a good spirited welcome back by the royal family would quickly have the Brits sighing in approval.
After Meghan finds zero top level acting jobs, and no TV moderator offerings....this whole thing will slide south in a matter of months. Harry returns to the UK on his own by the end of 2023....that’s my prediction.

That is quite plausible, even likely. The sticking point though will be that if Harry separates himself from his son, the British public may sour on him.
Well, don’t jump to conclusions. Meghan once held a briefcase on that game show hosted by Howie - I mean, the level of concentration and sophistication needed is off the charts.
