Late Friday (yesterday) evening, a state health officer (?) descended upon Firehouse BBQ, a local favorite, and declared that they are closed for violating the royal mask edicts of His Majesty the Governor/Dictator of Louisiana, John Bel Edwards. Louisiana's own Attorney General Jeff Landry has stated he believes the governor's mask mandates are unconstitutional.
Former LA representative and US Senate candidate Woody Jenkins, who now heads up Central City News, went to the restaurant immediately and made this live report on Facebook. (As of now, it's not yet on their main website.)
Full disclosure: The restaurant is owned by my ex-wife, with whom I have a cordial, but not close, relationship. I have nothing to gain from this other than to see justice done, and someone stand up to the increasing tyranny going on around us.
I support you 100%. If everyone would ignore the shutdown orders and go about their lives as before the shutdowns, the little Stalinist governors would not be able to stop it. I would say 80% of law enforcement are behind the people.
quit abusing breaking news.
Great news. Will the police stand down against these protesters who are violently attacking barbecue?
Sorry, admin. This is probably the first hard news story I’ve posted in my 20 or so years on FR. Thought I was following the rules.
Feel free to edit as needed.
I’m under the impression that at least 1 admin mod is a “fear bro,” or whatever they call the lockdown and mask police fan club.
Like the 2nd headline there, “Trump Officially Suggests Delaying the Election?”
Which is:
1. False. He didn’t say that. It’s not supported by the “article.” He tweeted a question, which is NOT a suggestion.
2. Not a headline at all. Just some guy’s opinion. Guy who posted it. Thought you weren’t supposed to make up headlines? Especially for “breaking.”
But it gets to stay up, for consistency reasons, I assume. Consistently inconsistent.
I’m in BR;grew up in NOLA. I despise Gov. Tyranny & his rule by government fiat!
The liberal filth in this state is killing tourism, hospitality, entertainment, sports(they’ll find a way to prevent football). Exactly what the state depends most on. Oil & gas down with the rest of the economy. They are murdering the great cities of America...deliberately.
I’ve called his office several times & asked “why is it ok for thousands to riot.loot sweat breathe spit sneeze cough burp without social distancing or mask enforcement but we cannot go to church without threat of arrest?”
Our esteemed Gov Jackass staff hasn’t returned the call
Burn in hell Guv.
I’d call it breaking news!
Citizens stand against unconstitutional action by a governor........if it’s not “Breaking News’, it sure as hell is good news.
Grew up in BR, lived in NOLA for four years in school. Left LA when I was 24 to join USAF. Sorry things have gone to crap with Gov. snakehead. I knew things were going to get worse when he got re-elected. I was coming down to visit Mom in July but cancelled trip when your tyrant mayor issued mandatory mask wearing. Miss family and friends (and food) in my home state and city but I ain't leaving Alaska for a while until things settle down. Understand your frustration.
Mask mandate thru Aug 7 but Gov Tyranny probably will extend it.
Press conference today 2:30. Try here wafb.com to stream. He will keep this state locked down as long as he can. But revolt is brewing. People are watching friends & family lose jobs, default on loans, car payments, face bankruptcy & lose their businesses. And people are angry. In NOLA-no tourists no business=no jobs. In BR-if LSU doesn’t play football, BR will lose millions & more lost jobs. They are scheduled to play 10 SEC games but that remains to be seen.
But none of this matters to Gov Jackass, his power to control us matters. And keeping his trial lawyer friends rich & happy. He disgusts me.
