LOL..I worked my 10 hours one day and there had been a big snow fall and sure enough my work didn't let us out early. So I get in my old Ford Ranger truck and if you know anything about driving a truck on slick roads they like nothing better than to fishtail. I had gone to Home Depot a couple days before and had them put 20 concrete blocks in the back for weight. Advise from the garage family. Well, my BIL had worked on my truck but the idling was fast. Not really a problem but in icy snow conditions its a bummer.
I'm in the truck and there's a down hill ahead and then an up hill on the stretch leading to the main road I knew would be cleared. For the life of me I couldn't get my truck to slow down the idle. I'm all over the road trying to get some control. People in back have stopped before the down hill.(saw this in my rear view window) People coming toward me had stopped almost to the main road seeing me ahead of them.
I'm sure they were taking bets among themselves that any time I'll be no problem. Its off the road this crazy truck driver will end. And I'm actually sideways at one point. Not even to the up hill spot..LOL
I don't know to this day how I kept my cool and got the truck straight again and conquered the hill. All in low gear and fast idling. My BIL fix the idling but I had to get through the laughing. Weird humor the guys have out there.

That’s a good story. I forgot about needing to put extra weight in the back. In our town people would put bags of sand or kitty litter. It would add weight & if you got stuck, you could pour it out under the tires for traction. Dual purpose.
