As the CV deaths climb more people are claiming it is not just the flu. Below is an older article but it is still less of an impact than previous several flush seasons in the past 70 years.

The Spanish flu is much worse than any subsequent pandemic because it actually killed young people and had a legitimate affect on the economy and demographics. The number of people functioning in the economy who have been killed by Corona is very low. The Coronavirus economic crisis is, unlike with the Spanish flu, a manufactured one.

Medical authoritarianism seems to be the preferred method to dismantle the freedoms in the constitution. Look for the tyranny to grow as politicians decide their view of the common good is more important the principles of freedom laid out in the constitution.
I could actually tolerate some tyranny at the state level. I know, as did the founders, that federalism would drive states to adopt correct policies over time as people would vote with their feet and move. In a federalist system idiotic medical tyranny would have a much harder time surviving very long. But when the tyranny comes from the Federal government, instead of the state government, it is much more difficult to remove.
Ping. Freepmail Impimp to go on the ping list.
Regarding tyranny:
Of all tyrannies, a tyranny sincerely exercised for the good of its victims may be the most oppressive. It would be better to live under robber barons than under omnipotent moral busybodies. The robber barons cruelty may sometimes sleep, his cupidity may at some point be satiated; but those who torment us for our own good will torment us without end for they do so with the approval of their own conscience.
C. S. Lewis
I think whatever this is has been greatly exaggerated for political reasons. Yet Trump keeps on winning, as Democrat cities burn to the ground.
I live in a county of 230,000 people. I only know of two friends of a friend who have had it and they were asymptomatic. The Spanish flu, this ain’t.
Your post merely brings out the uneducated, stupid and mentally unstable kooks that live on the site.
Dunno if anyone else had this experience, but it was a watershed-event for me.
Went into a Sportsmans Warehouse in Utah and noticed NOT ONE PERSON had a mask on. I unsuccessfully tried to find some ammo, and as I was heading for the door, it hit me on how much freer I felt being in an area where no one wore a mask. It was like “The Old Days”. Went back in and wandered about for another 10 minutes savoring the aura.
I never realized how oppressive this mandatory mask thing had been weighing on me.
