When I lived in the UK....we had to bag our own, damned groceries.

It was weird to me at the time. And that was in the 90’s.

I have to laugh at people accepting all this non-service happily.

Long ago it was the gas stations.

Then the groceries started with self-check and then re-usable bags. All this means no service. Do it yourself.

It’s cheaper. Indeed. But at some level, what is the point of having this venue at all? One wastes time having to do all this himself anyway, which IS money.

Same in the 70’s when I visited my sister who was stationed in England.

Those cashiers just sat on their stools, rang up the order, took your money, and ignored you.
