I have a cousin that sells packaged Disney holidays. She quit her job as a nurse 10 years ago because what started out as a side gig became her main money-maker. She has built up her own travel agency which is Disney-sanctioned with at least 20 people below her in some sort of pyramid scheme -- you can't sell Disney holidays unless you work for or own a travel agency that is endorsed by them, and you have to maintain a certain level of sales to keep the endorsement. She gets a percentage of sales from everyone below her.

She has the kind of looks and personality that can sell freezers to Eskimos (oops, that's rayciss) and has never had any problem convincing a working class family with small children into going into substantial credit card debt to have a 10 day vacation with all the bells and whistles. (I suppose if she didn't take their money, someone else would have).

I can only wonder how she's managing with the two mortgages (main house and lake house), boat and six car payments (herself, husband, and four kids) now...

To go off on a tangent, I see lots of places around Orlando selling “discounted” Disney tickets. I never tried it because I have a feeling it is a scam.

Quite a story—I would not want to be one of her creditors these days.

:-(

“ can only wonder how she’s managing with the two mortgages (main house and lake house), boat and six car payments (herself, husband, and four kids) now... ”
?

Do people really do that?

The people I know who have excess pay cash. I tell my kids you can’t gamble with money you need to pay for the house, food, property tax, utilities communication and transportation, retirement, insurance and anything else you need to pay for for the rest of your life if you lose your job. No debt. Then there’s others God might need you to help (not to be confused with leftist-chosen causes). After that you can play with money.

Who lends that kind of dough to people already in debt totally dependent on income?

We are seriously in need of reset. Politicians take advantage of that kind of foolish home management.
