My travel agent knows a teacher in Australia. The teacher had a nursing student who was an aboriginal Australian. The woman was doing extremely well and then, one day, said she was going on “walkabout.” She was gone three months.

Recall the poem with the line, “Only mad dogs and Englishmen go out in the noonday sun?” Western culture has duty, reliability and honesty as core beliefs. A study run by the Chinese Communist Party asked the question: Why didn’t China, which had movable print, gunpowder and compasses a thousand years earlier than the West do with them what the West did with them?” If they had, clearly, the world would be speaking Chinese now instead of English. The answer they came up with was, number 1, Christianity and, Number 2, honesty and the rule of law. This meant that someone who was weak, but brilliant, could attain wealth and give intellectual achievements to society in the West, but nowhere else. Thus, the West got the maximum amount from every person whereas the Chinese could only do what the local warlord wanted of them.

This is why China is taking over the church in China. They want the benefits of Christianity but without empowering the people or the Church to be a counterbalance to the CCP.

My point is, that fat slob is enjoying her lifestyle because of generations of hard working Westerners creating a good life for everyone. This is why half the world would come here if it could.

I’d write more, but I have work now that I must get done.

I did not grow up around blacks but there was a significant number of Native Americans around since my house was literally a stone’s throw from a reservation. The reservation had elementary and junior high schools but then for high school they attended mine. Integration was rocky, as you might imagine. By the way, a large number of Hispanics were well integrated in the school.

At any rate, once a panel of tribal leaders came to the school to explain their culture for the benefit of the pale faces. Of course they had a real incentive to keep the kids on the reservation and so they officially discouraged the kids from joining clubs or participating in sports or other extracurricular activities. They also explained that the Indian culture included a notion that employed Indians were free to come and go as they pleased. So those employed off the reservation would disappear for days or weeks on hunting and fishing trips and then be genuinely surprised to find out their job had been filled by someone else.

Very few of the Indian kids I knew broke free of the reservation and went to college. Most fell into the reservation trap (an insidious system set up between the tribe and the BIA) and a tragic number of those kids died of suicide or alcoholism. I was in the Class of 1970, by the way.
