This is an example of today’s sensitive language, and being sensitive to transsexuals. We aren’t supposed to talk of “pregnant women”, because that implies that only women can be pregnant.
But in today’s sensitive era towards transsexuals, if we say “pregnant people”, then that is inclusive of the small number of biological females who identify as men but somehow became pregnant anyway.
