If they start doing this at other embassies, prepare for war. It's what the Japanese did right before Pearl Harbor.

The Soviets did it at the height of the Cuban Missile Crisis, if I'm not mistaken.

Well, that's not at all suspicious.

I wonder what @mcuban has to say

He helped light it

Seems like something one does before making a quick exit.

You mean like destroying trace of their past

And local sites in Houston saying Consulate being evicted Friday

Can’t they do what they want on what’s technically their soil?

You're thinking embassy. Consulates don't get that.

Gee, I wonder...

You know a good paper shredder might have been more inconspicuous. Just saying.

I agree. And burning them takes a loooong time unless you have an incinerators.

This is wild! I know DOJ just prosecuted 2 Chinese Men stealing COVID19 vaccine documents.

Wonder what they are hiding Fire I live in the Fort Worth Texas area I’ll keep my eye out for more news on this and other areas around Tx & China embassies or Consulates!

The reason is that the US wants to send diplomatic personnel to Wuhan and does not agree with the quarantine measures and wants diplomatic immunity. Therefore, the US consulate in Wuhan is closed. They retaliated by demanding the closure of the Chinese consulate in Houston.

They're either about to be called home or they're about to be booted out.

Incident report updated to confirm the chinese are the ones doing the burning, and burning documents in the courtyard of the consolate.

Preparing for something or house cleaning.

They're being evicted by the US govt with no notice. There's no time to move documents out, so they have to be destroyed. Any state would do the same, including the US.

Yes to that last sentence. They were given 72 hours. The eviction was out of concern for stealing trade se rents and personal information.
