Senator Fulbright was a full on segregationist Dixiecrat who opposed the Civil Rights Act and endorsed the Southern Manifesto. He was a mentor of Bill Clinton. Of course his record has been scrubbed unless it is in an article specifically about this aspect of his life. Then it is worded as his being complicated ... a different time, etc.
