At least seven ships caught fire today in the Iranian port city of Bushehr. No reason has been cited for the incident, and no casualties have been reported. This comes after a string of explosions around Iran over the past couple weeks.

A screen grab taken from a from Iranian State TV Irib shows firefighters combatting a blaze at the Delvar Kashti Bushehr boat factory in the Iranian city of Bushehr.

At least seven ships were on fire in the Iranian port city of Bushehr, the semi-official Tasnim news agency reported on Wednesday, without giving a reason for the incident.

A fire broke out at a shipyard Wednesday afternoon and operations are underway to bring it under control, the state-run Irna news agency cited Jahangir Dehghani, the head of the crisis management organisation for Bushehr province, as saying. Plumes of dense black smoke billowed into the air, in a photograph of the incident published by Irna. State broadcaster IRIB showed firefighters tackling clouds of smoke at a shipyard at the southern port on the Gulf.

Irna said the shipyard builds fibreglass hulls for boats.

There have been several explosions and fires around Iranian military, nuclear and industrial facilities since late June, including a fire at Iran's underground Natanz nuclear facility on July 2.

n an article in early July Irna addressed what it called the possibility of sabotage by enemies such as Israel and the United States, although it stopped short of accusing either directly.

Israel's defence minister said on July 5 his country was not "necessarily" behind every unexplained incident in Iran.

On June 30, 19 people were killed in an explosion at a medical clinic in the north of the capital Tehran, which an official said was caused by a gas leak.

On June 26, an explosion occurred east of Tehran near the Parchin military and weapons development base that the authorities said was caused by a leak in a gas storage facility in an area outside the base.
