- "LSJI" (Little St. James Island) -- infamous "Pedophile Island"
- "GSJI" (Great St. James Island)
- On March 19, 2020, The Guardian reported that Jeffrey Epstein's former girlfriend and associate, Ghislaine Maxwell, sued his estate in the superior court in the US Virgin Islands.
- In July, New York Magazine reported that the convicted sex offender owned two neighboring private islands in the US Virgin Islands, which collectively cost him over $25 million. Epstein's real-estate portfolio played a major role in the sexual-abuse allegations against him.
- On August 12, 2019, two days after Epstein died of an apparent suicide in a Manhattan jail cell, the FBI raided one of his islands, called Little St. James.
- On January 15, 2020, Virgin Islands Attorney General Denise George filed a lawsuit alleging that Epstein and his associates took girls and young women to Little St. James and forced them into sexual servitude and forced labor.
(FWIW, from other ruins on the islands, it appears the GSJI ruins may have been the remains of a sugar plantation, perhaps including slave quarters...)
