I'd change "were" to "are." Mexico's cases have spiked later than ours. Back when the China ban was put in, Mexico had hardly any cases. Besides, until the border really means something, what difference does it make?
BTW, I think Trump messed up by not cutting off flights from Europe at about the same time he cut off flights from China. I doubt NYC would have been hit as hard as it was if that had been done. Of course, the flak from the Democrats would have been even more monumental than it was.
That said, and with what we now know, why are we allowing Mexicans to reinfect the US?

Depends whether AZ is as needy in keeping the Covid stats as alarming as possible. The donks in Sacramento are utterly shameless. CA Dims have to insure that local elections will not be lost. What better way than by enforcing masks, pumping up hospital stats and using scary public service TV ads, i.e., all tactics to insure that we have to vote-by-mail.

The Year of the Rat, indeed! After their celebrations with family, they returned to the USA via Seattle and NYC. I have no bias against ‘unknowing’ Chinese tourist.

Well yes and no.... it sucks to see the virus jack up again with all of those negative consequences but it will bolster big time the need to shut the border in a myriad of applications including a Zero Immigration order. Meanwhile we work on herd immunity.
