Correct.
Technically, the 2nd Amendment allows the public to be armed so that THEY can serve to regulate (control) the militia should it represent a threat to the freedom and liberties of the citizenry.
The founders understood that the citizenry would always vastly out number the military and militia (National Guard) and did not want them defenseless.
The left talks about the 2nd Amendment as regards self-defense and hunting. They are right and wrong at the same time. It is about self-defense and hunting. It is about defense from the GOVERNMENT and for hunting tyrants in office who would misuse the power of the government for their own ends.
