Way back in March, this question came up to the guru of gurus in Germany on the topic of virus issues. He said in very blunt language...because of the size of the Coronavisus ‘bug’...most all masks were NOT effective. Then he said the only reason to wear it...was if you had the virus and coughed...the bulk of the cough would stay within the mask itself. That was the only plus-side of the mask business.
Im a very old man in very good health for my age, but clearly at high risk from Covid-19. Im good to walk without a cane or assistance for about half an hour at a time.
A few weeks ago, I went to a store wearing gloves and brand-new standard procedure mask to enter the store.
After about 15 minutes I was exhausted and breathing very fast, and began to feel disoriented, with serious difficulty focusing my vision. I had to get out and left the store.
I immediately removed my mask when I got outside, and felt much better after about 5 breaths of fresh air. I was completely recovered and just fine within 2 minutes.
Hypercapnia (look it up), from wearing a mask, is very real, especially for me.
Yes.
Thats not going to go over well with certain FReepers.
I was roundly castigated for saying such just a couple days ago.
No, Basic Physics says that CO2 will pass totally unhindered through even the finest-mesh masks. Any impairment you experience is due solely to the merely mechanical effect, which causes a slight pressure differential - i.e., it's harder to suck air through a filter.
A mask is, of course, an article of clothing, and thus provides a little warmth (i.e., provides insulation).
Regards,
I predicted this lunacy would bring on mask wars...Maskers vs the anti-maskers mostly driven by politics...Where everyone is suddenly an infectious disease expert, and the politician’s friends and associates have interest in or are influenced by the mask manufacturing biz. Suddenly it’s the hot item. They never want it to end.
