It may be a rivalry on the field, but theres a commonality to the Egg Bowl off of it. Especially when it comes to its state flag.
In the midst of the tumult across the nation, the calls have been growing louder for the state of Mississippi to replace its stars-and-bars-emblazoned flag. The NCAA extended its ban on holding sponsored events in the state until the flag is changed. The SEC also announced that it would no longer hold conference sponsored championships or tournaments in the state. Conference USA joined the SEC Monday in taking the same stance.

“There’s a kid at OKST saying he and his bros wouldn’t be working out as the coach wore a OANN t-shirt while fishing.”
When a people worship college football teams, they grant untold powers to 18-22 year-old kids.
That is not the fault of the football players, that is the fault of the adults.
After much thought....I believe the answer is simple. Nothing prevents you from having multiple state flags.
So for the SEC, there would a nice red background flag...only for SEC events, with a hunting hound....leg raised and peeing on a tree stump that says SEC...with some Latin phrase underneath saying ‘you get what you ask for’.
You’d make a third flag for the NCAA....same deal...hunting hound peeing, and the stump phrase would be NCAA, again with a Latin phrase.
I’d even make a fourth flag, for California....same deal.
High school kids don’t give a crap about the Mississippi flag. They’ll go where they can play.
Lane Kiffin, shouldn’t you be looking at a 12 year old to offer him a scholarship? Mike Leach, if you didn’t like the state flag, you could’ve stay with the Commies. I doubt Mississippi held a gun to your head and said to move to Mississippi...
Mike Leach: bringing WA state values to Mississippi. Wonderful.
I hope it isn’t.
I mean, if I can give it up, anyone can. But I don’t know how many will.
True to a point.
The people of Mississippi better start putting salt , pepper ,and ketchup on themselves because tyrants can never be appeased. They always want more. And you are the more. Enjoy.
More correctly, they'll go where they get paid.
WRONG ANSWER. -For one thing you don’t know Mississippi folk as those of us who have family there do.
The MORE that “outsiders” & the coaches complain, the STIFFER the resistance to change will be.
Also the law, passed by 2-1 by the people in referendum, states that the flag can NEVER be changed NOR can another referendum ever be held.

In 2018, the NFL earned $16 billion in revenue.
The NFL is not going away.
Anyone over the age of 25 that has all their emotional capital invested in a college football team suffers from arrested development. The only exception is if you have a family member on the team.
You hope
True.
If they can play at Ole Miss, they can play at Texas A&M, Ohio State or Michigan, and I can promise your that coaches at other schools will ask those kids, “Do you really want to play football under that flag?”
That is precisely why Ole Miss and Mississippi State are getting involved.
Hurrah! Hurrah! for Southern rights, hurrah!
Hurrah for the Bonnie Blue Flag that bears a single star!
As the late Al Davis often said, “LANCE Kiffin is a flat-out liar. He cons people.”
It’s sick and kind of scary how some people worship and follow every little thing about ball players from jr. high and up.
Ask Tennessee fans what they think of Lane.
