We are automating ourselves out of jobs. The more technical our jobs get and machines do them, the more we sit on our butts at home collecting free government money, which no one is paying taxes to pay for. Geeze, the nation is rapidly going bankrupt with no one paying taxes to pay for all the free stuff.

Yep, automation over the centuries have changed the processes of our lives.
Just take any industry and look how it has changed. Yep the population
is still growing and how they all will make money to take care of themselves
and families will be an interesting time. I’m too old to see a long way into
the future. But I’d love to experience it.

I was born in 1940 and the changes that have occurred are notable and will
continue I’d guess. Science, machinery, education have made changes for sure.

LOL

I can understand you avoiding the Self-checkout for a good bit.

While alone, I enjoy using the self-checkout because it gives me a toy to play with in the store. LOL

My beloved wants a PERSON to check out his purchases. He wants to take no chances at all.

LOL

Elimination of wasteful work is true progress.

Except you have not eliminated the wasteful work; you have passed it on to your patrons.

I pretty much dodged it for close to 4-5 years. Things were already getting difficult and I was not wanting to add to it by some dumb mistake, LOL.

I’m sure she was over-confident, probably laughing to herself how she was pulling it off all behind their backs. I’m not kidding, they were 2 - 3 feet maximum away from her.

They turned and stopped her as she was about to leave the self-checkout area. Like I say, she got about 5 feet. I watched them put the handcuffs on her.

Changes at my local Walmart tomorrow.

Entry and exit on the grocery side only (they’ve done this before). Face masks now required (my county has made this decree). A semi-national convenience store chain was already requiring face masks in my county a week ago or so. I have been outside the county except maybe a time or two in the last week. Not sure about other regional counties but probably similar.

Was talking to an employee there a couple of hours ago.
