Walmart will no longer place multicultural hair care and beauty products in locked cases in any of its stores, the company confirmed Wednesday.
The practice, which Walmart says was only in place in about a dozen of its 4,700 U.S. stores, has received criticism for the implication that the customers who buy these products, largely people of color, cant be trusted. The cases must be unlocked by a store associate, and the products are usually then taken to the front of the store for purchase.
Yeah because Walmart just put these items in a locked case willy-nilly for no reason, no data, suggesting why they should. Oh! what’s that Karen? Walmarts real time scanning inventory system shows 30% of inventory available with ZERO on the shelf,. Hummmmm????

Then, eventually, they will stop selling them.
Oooops, were all out?
I guess well have to order more and not sure when they may be in.........
“multicultural”
They mean “monocultural” here, don’t they? Something specifically suited to one culture, but not others.
Who at Walmart thought this was a good idea? This sends a message to everyone: criminals, come and steal, and to non-criminals, you are going to be paying for this.
The bean counters are racist. All retailers know what items are stolen the most. By blacks and whites, doesn’t matter to them.
Help yourself up to $900.00, then we may press charges!
Hey! I felt the same way buying some of their tech products!!!
NERD LIVES MATTER!!!!
Surrender
Lol !!! Exactly!!!
Back in the 60’s I worked at a Thom McAns. The only items we had theft problems with were the multi-cultural items.
Well as Kim Olson Candidstr for Texas representative said Who cares what theyre looting when theyre taking it peacefully - youre offending their race
They’ll put out a case (or whatever amount) it will get stolen/bought, then they won’t stock any more for a month (or whatever).
Good luck getting your hair care products, good looking, law abiding African-American folks who shop at those stores.
That’s definitely a solution to the problem.
We used to buy most food items at Walmart when they did price match. They stopped that, so now we frequent Aldi and very rarely buy groceries at WM. If they could afford price match, they could afford free product to black thieves. But I suppose after a while these stores will be ethnic product deserts.
I guess these products will be their loss leader.
Yep. Going to cost them big time. never tear down a wall until you know why it was built in the first place.
