Respectfully, please re-read it. I said, "It’s rare a party is in the White House for only one term."

Bush Sr. was the third term in a row for his party (following 2 years of Reagan).

My assertion is that Carter losing the 1980 election, thus making it only 1 term for the Democrats, was a unique occurrence for elections since the 1800's. Evidently the voters tend to not want to change the party every 4 years.
