I’ve considered aspects of that ... somebody believed they saw something to the effect some woman reported Floyd was saying, “you weren’t supposed to kill me” or something like that and the inference was that Floyd was paid or played (pawn) or played along in some way and didn’t know what he’d gotten himself into.
I agree that the “you weren’t supposed to kill me” quote plays better with the play acting theory than the enforcer/hit theory.
An alternative explanation for the “you weren’t supposed to kill me” quote could be that Floyd had done something to double cross his bosses and had been hiding out. He got word that the boss wanted him to be found and brought in so he could talk to him. Floyd knew the boss was going to discipline him but didn’t think he was going to be killed.
