Thank you for this story. For some reason it has me sobbing deeply. Perhaps it is just that I still miss my mother so after nearly 8 years. I am so glad you got to share so much with your mother.
You know, I don’t carry a lot of the sad memories. I didn’t care that she did not know me as much as I cared that she was happy. She laughed a lot and had new memories all the time. We came back to the home after a day trip once and they had a band playing polka music. I was grabbed and she danced me down the hall to the where the music was and we continued to polka. These are what I remember of the disease. She was happy to be with her friend. So what that I was her daughter.
