Woman hid her Ardmore grandmother’s body in a freezer for 15 years to steal her Social Security checks, police say

A 61-year-old Pennsylvania woman was arrested Wednesday and charged with theft and abuse of corpse for allegedly hiding her dead grandmother’s body in a freezer for 15 years so she could collect the woman’s Social Security benefits, state police said.

Cynthia Carolyn Black of York County had told police during their more than yearlong investigation that she had found Glenora Reckford Delahay dead inside their home in the Delaware County section of Ardmore in March 2004, police said.

Black carried the body to the basement and put it in a freezer because, she said, she needed her grandmother’s Social Security income.

The grandmother was 97 when she died.

Black told police that three years after her grandmother’s death, she moved the freezer with the body to Dillsburg, York County, and used the Social Security income to pay the mortgage on a home.

After 15 years must have had a helluva freezer burn.

I couldn't get past the fact that granny even *fits* into the freezer. Does this lady have a meat locker in her house, or was granny sawed up into pieces?

Hhmmm...when I’m interested in purchasing a property I always make sure I dig around freezers...2 women found “remains wrapped in trash bags and under blankets in a white chest freezer”

IF grandma died at age 97, she likely didn’t have a driver’s license. She may have NEVER had one. Some women never did learn to drive.

There’s a Korean dark romcom in which the murderess, to keep her roommate happy, had to go out and buy a kimchi chest refrigerator.

I think in the showroom, she climbed into it to check out if there was room for the two bodies she had in the apartment until she could take the bodies out to bury in the boonies.

Years ago, my younger brother got his first deer. My parents went out and bought a small chest freezer for the meat.

.

In the very old days the punishment for such a dishonorable thief would be To BE buried alive in that same freezer.

She was 97 when she died? Does anyone at SS ever look at the birth dates of recipients before sending out checks? Do they really think she was 113?

If this woman needed her grandmother’s check to survive, how long had it been since grandma was accessing her own money before she died? This woman should be locked up for the rest of her life. No need for cash.
