Just when I think it couldn’t get any crazier. Judges can’t hire lawyers to defend their actions to a higher court. You know what a lawyer who helps a judge write an opinion or a legal brief to a higher court is called? A law clerk. And they work for the US government. An outside lawyer is not part of any rules I have ever heard of.

I suspect the appeals court, after they get over the shock of what this judge is doing, is going to tell him that a submission by a private lawyer representing the judge will not be allowed. If he’s not capable of writing his own reasons down on paper, what was he doing judging General Flynn’s case? If I were them, I would also refer the matter to the Supreme Court for review of judicial conduct.

Ergo, my comment “Spoopy”. I wonder in what capacity is this lawyer being retained? (At his, Sullivan’s, expense?)
He already has (talented) Law Clerks, already has (Deep State) Lawyers ready to be “Friends of the Court”, already has his Judge Buddy on tap...Why does he require a “High Powered” Lawyer???

Inquiring minds want to know. Spoopy, eh?

This piece gets a little deeper into it. Apparently its a sign of panic and desperation.
