I’ve contemplated that a long time and I really want you to be right. My fondest wishes in this matter are one of these:
Sessions wins the nomination and the seat in the general and is tapped for military tribunals in the second term. Tuberville fills in behind Sessions, having become better known through his campaign.
Sessions is not the Senate nominee and is still available for a role in future prosecutions.
Unless there will be questions of fairness on the part of those overseeing the prosecutions, why is it necessary to publicly trash Sessions? I don’t see the reasoning yet. He’s already known as a straight shooter so an accusation of bias wouldn’t be credible.
