The “essential” label isn’t the issue. The issue is to what extent is a church hampered, regardless of the label used to inflict the hampering.
Courts are the entities that apply the constitution, not POTUS. If a governor hampers a civil liberty, POTUS is no help, unless he calls out the national guard, or agititates the public much as a community organizer would.

I see. But wouldn’t POTUS know that courts have to apply this? Aren’t you saying that the press is correct that POTUS is overstating his authority? Surely his advisors have told him this.
