One of my favorite moves/strategies is when you have a white rook 1 facing opposing black King and white rook 1 is guarded on the side by another white rook 2 and the black Queen has been forced to step in front of the black King but has no backup.

The black Queen can either sacrifice and take white rook 1 (because she can't move and leave the black King in check) or black queen can stand her ground and move black king but sacrifice with no collateral. Either way black Queen is removed from the board.

Oh, yes. Its bad practice to line your Queen up with the King. Both bishops and rooks can pull that move.
