Almost all, if not all, Federal workers are receiving FULL pay and benefits while on lockdown at home while doing no work at all. It is a fact that IRS workers are receiving full pay while most of them are at home not working at all. The media has produced almost no stories (can't find any in a search) on this subject for some reason or another.
Is this indeed factual? I’m a federal employee, and nearly 100% of my entire agency (a Cabinet level one) is teleworking.
My first job out of law school was as an attorney at the Federal Communications Commission. Never have I seen so many people do so little. One secretary was at the highest end of the payscale and as far as I could tell, her only job was organizing the weekly football pool.

Contractors, those who technically work for a contracting firm, do not get paid when the government shuts down, eve though the government has paid the contracting firm under the contract agreement. They pocket the money and the employee does without. We’ve been there.
The only change would be location of where they are goofing off. Also, I'd say that substituting "some" with "most" would be more accurate. I've met few government workers that could hold a job in the private sector...they gravitate to government jobs because they're worthless employees.
Sickening. And many of those same workers look down on the rest of us as unwashed peons.
So are all the “non essential” NY State employees. As an essential employee, I go to work everyday as always. If I have to take time off for any reason, I must use my available personal time or vacation time. Meanwhile, over half the people I used to work with are now at home getting full pay, still building up their time off accruals and not losing any of their time off accruals. Hardly seems fair.
So none of them can, and productivity is only about 1-5% of normal, depending on the time and day of the week.
I just submitted my recommendation to the White House as to what the next move should be to counter the Pelosi/House Dems latest stimulus package:
Recommendation for the President to thwart Nancy Pelosi and the House’s new trillion dollar latest bailout package re coronavirus. Have McConnell introduce a Senate one shot only plan (no one says a package must be huge). In fact, make it a one step only “interim” plan to directly help Americans in their time of need by issuing another stimulus payment in the amount of “X”, just like the last one. A $2-3,000 direct payment or so, make it large enough to count, and that’s it, just this targeted direct payment like the last one.
What is the Dem controlled House going to do, not go along with it? It will appear to all Americans that it is the Pelosi Dems that are preventing them from getting this additional financial renumeration (remember these payments are actually just repayments to folks from the taxes WE PAY FOR to the federal gov’t). So give Americans a shot in the arm they desperately need, without all the extraneous payouts the Dems want for everything but the kitchen sink.
Tell the Dems future payouts of aid to other entities will come later, and the President/McConnell/Pubs can decide on what the definition of “later” is. Meanwhile, everyone will be getting aid, thus benefiting indirectly all entities, including those on the Dems’ wishlist. Again, what could the Dems do about this? You would be giving the populace what they most crave, namely an injection of money that they could use as they wish and prioritize as to their individual needs.
They need that money now, not 2 months from now, and how pleased would they be with the Republicans and the President to receive this quick injection of aid into the Country’s collective piggy banks. Say that’s your only offer on the table now, only that which will directly aid our citizens. Now lets see the Dems try to stop this proposal, this one shot deal that will please everyone, the most bang for the buck, and totally by-pass the Dems’ gigantic bailout package for the foreseeable future. Win, win.
I have heard of no government employees being laid off, furloughed, or having hours or pay cut.
I telework most of the time and I work my butt off too! Youre painting with a pretty large brush.
Dang I should have gots me one of them gubmint jobs!
I used to do it - in another lifetime
At the same time, the government slugs do everything they can to destroy private sector incomes. That part never stops.
my entire IT group (DoD/Navy/NAVSEA) is teleworking.
And I’m wearing clothes, in case any is ‘wondering’..
