If you are trying to convince someone, it’s rarely a good idea to start with a personal insult. And I know you’re better than that. I’ve read many of your previous posts.
Anyway, yes the alcoholic would have died anyway. Just as the old man in my example would have died anyway of congestive heart failure. The question is whether or not some other agent pushed things along.
I, for one, am not willing to give Red China a single break here. Your mileage may vary.

I submit that you are aiming at the wrong target. What’s damaging this country is not the raw number coronavirus-related deaths. What’s damaging this country is how local, state, and federal officials are responding to those numbers.
Yes, higher numbers make it easier for those officials to make bad decisions. But we should focus on those decisions. Let’s not end up minimizing the damage Red China has done to us.
