He’s trying to set up a battle between Flynn and his former attorneys. Flynn says they gave him bad advice and withheld evidence from him. The judge figures the lawyers will dispute that.

They withheld exculpatory material and did not turn it over to Powell until the DOJ started to release stuff showing that they had material they had not turned over.

If Flynn pled without knowing of some of the exculpatory evidence in the hands of his attorneys then their conflict of interest is not mute but implicates them in the execution of gross malpractice.

"Flynn says they gave him bad advice and withheld evidence from him. The judge figures the lawyers will dispute that."

But that has no place in the courtroom at this time. This is about the DOJ's dismissal of the charges. Any argument Flynn has with his old lawyers should be conducted in a different venue, at a different time. Flynn fired his lawyers almost a year ago next month. If the Judge had any questions regarding the reasons Flynn fired them, he should have asked those questions then. It has no place in this courtroom now.
