If it does show higher numbers prior to reopening, this will affect the public image, and more important the knowledge that other states will have in making their own decisions.

Man who called coronavirus ‘fake crisis’ gets infected, wife in critical condition

JUPITER, Fla. (WTVO) — A Florida man who worked as a rideshare driver and refused to wear a mask out of skepticism of the coronavirus pandemic has been hospitalized, along with his wife, who is now facing a serious threat from the disease.

70 cases of COVID-19 at French schools days after reopening
The Associated Press
Published Monday, May 18, 2020 11:37AM EDT

PARIS — Just one week after a third of French schoolchildren went back to school in an easing ofthe coronavirus lockdown, there’s been a worrying flareup of about 70 COVID-19 cases linked to schools.

Some schools were opened last week and a further 150,000 junior high students went back to the classroom Monday as further restrictions were loosened by the government. The move initially spelled relief: the end of homeschooling for many hundreds of thousands of exhausted French parents, many whom were also working from home.

But French Education minister Jean-Michel Blanquer sounded the alarm Monday, telling French radio RTL that the return has put some children in new danger of contamination. He said the affected schools are being closed immediately. French media reported that seven schools in northern France were closed.

Some people have to learn the hard way. The sad part is that he got his wife sick and who knows how many other innocent victims.

I have a feeling we are going to be seeing a lot of this.

it's easy to think it is a hoax when only 5% of the population infected. Again, people do not seem to understand geometric growth. As infections grow, it is going to close in around people.

My neighbor, around the corner, had 2 parties this weekend. One a kids party and and another some sort of adult party. People won't take it serious until it effects them.

Those stupid Chinese.

They’ve had it longer than anyone.

You’d think they’d have figured out by now it’s just the flu and make a go for ‘herd immunity’ like Sweden.

(what do the chicoms know about the LONG term effects of this virus on the survivors that we haven’t figured out yet (or are hoping no one will notice...))

I was one of those who thought that when President Trump announced “this is bad” back in March the deniers would see the light.

We were so wrong.

Since then, they have come up with thousands of statistics, arguments (not to mention name calling and arm waving) to support their denial.

Persuasion appears impossible at this point.

My plan is just to stay far away from the deniers until the crisis has passed—don’t know what else I can do.

“Some people have to learn the hard way. The sad part is that he got his wife sick and who knows how many other innocent victims.”

That is sad. We will see a lot of this over the next 7 months. A lot of people are not believing because they do not know anyone inflected.

I know one direct person that still test positive after three weeks. Coworkers friend that died, and my mothers friend who was having strokes from it. Also a lot of folks in the company I work for infected from working in the factories.

“My plan is just to stay far away from the deniers until the crisis has passed—don’t know what else I can do.”

That is the best plan. Also do not point it out to them when they find out they were wrong. Most likely that is when someone they know died.

Antifa were the ones wearing masks at the WI and MI protests.

The ‘kids’.

Who somehow decided to wear spendy N95 masks with exhaust valves to an anti-mask/anti-lockdown rally.

Matt Bracken calls such events ‘Buffalo Jump’s’.

Yes, I noticed that! I wonder if he even realized he was high risk or if he thought it was just an old person disease.

Regulators Sat on Complaint as COVID-19 Outbreak at Iowa Plant Grew

IOWA CITY, Iowa (AP) — Safety regulators declined to inspect an Iowa pork plant after receiving a complaint alleging workers were exposed to the coronavirus in crowded conditions — a decision that critics said allowed a burgeoning outbreak to grow unabated.

An April 11 complaint to the Iowa Occupational Safety and Health Administration alleged that employees at the Tyson Foods processing plant in Perry, Iowa, were spreading the virus as they worked “elbow to elbow.” The complaint asserted that social distancing wasn’t taking place in any of the production areas or the cafeteria.

Workers and regulators had reason to be alarmed. The Tyson plant in Columbus Junction had been idled days earlier due to a coronavirus outbreak that infected hundreds of workers and was rerouting some of its hogs to Perry for slaughter. Other meat plants nationwide were reporting outbreaks and closures.

But Iowa OSHA took nine days to seek a response from Tyson, and eight more to get one, according to documents obtained by The Associated Press under the open records law. The agency determined April 28 that Tyson’s voluntary efforts were “satisfactory” and closed the case without inspecting the plant.
