There’s only a couple problems with that. A) Loads of people are wearing them with exhalation relief valves which renders them worthless for that intended purpose.
B) the bulk of transmission is fomite, the particles are picked up and transferred via hand and people unused to masks are constantly touching and adjusting and pulling up and down masks which of themselves are a nice warm moist repository for the virus’.
I’d appreciate a reference fo the “bulk of transmission” as I’ve read the opposite, i.e. that the main source is expelled aerosols. But both could be true and I’m misinterpreting what is meant by “source” if that means the virus ends up on fomite.
I feel that the main precaution people can take is hand hygiene, because unless you take a direct hit from a cough or something, most everything I’ve read says that your own hands are how it gets transferred into your body.
